“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” ~ II Corinthians 5:21
I force myself to watch the scenes of brutality.
My Savior humbled himself and took my punishment. The scourging, the humiliation, the pain.
That is what I deserved. Not Him.
The heaviness of that day brings me to tears.
BUT GOD!
The story does not end there. He bore the brunt of the sins of the world so I {and you} could have eternal life. He rose again, from the borrowed tomb to prove that death is not the end. Nothing, not even death on a cross, can keep Him from His rightful place- a throne in Heaven.
How do I say thank you for a sacrifice I did not deserve?
How do I say thank you for pain beyond what I can comprehend?
How do I say thank you for being THE WAY out for all of us that call on His name?
How? By living the life He has called me to.
A life of thanks. Each moment worthy of gratitude for if He had not made a way out we would all be condemned to an eternity separated from Him.
So, even in the dark times, I count the gifts:
~the nurse that gets the IV on the first try
~the hubby that brings home a card, “I’m glad you’re my wife”
~beautiful Resurrection Day weather
~a fully cooked ham so the oven doesn’t make the house hot
~communion on Good Friday..He is the Bread of Life
~painted toenails on Sweet Pea, peeking out from beneath her Easter dress
~rest, rest and more rest
What are you thankful for?
