The Radical Experiment- Part Two

Step Two: Read through the entire Word.

Pre-Radical: We had family devotions but had never come up with a reading plan for the entire Bible.  I have read through several times, including twice with the Bible in 90 Days program.  Reading the entire Bible as a family actually felt like a daunting task.

Currently: We have read through several books of the Bible.  My boys did not want to do a read through in order of Genesis to Revelation.  So, to mix things up a bit we pull a book of the Bible out of a basket each month and that is the book we read.  We have finished Proverbs and Malachi and are now in Galations.

Upcoming: I want to be much more intentional and devoted to this process.  If we do not read faster or more than one book at a time we will not make it through the entire Bible in a year.  We usually read at dinner, whoever finishes eating first but we may add some individual reading assignments for quiet time before bed.

Barriers/Obstacles: The summer {which is when we started this challenge} proved to be a difficult time to read as a family.  Our boys went to visit family in Florida for three weeks and lots of other things happened that took away from consistent time in the Word.  This is certainly not an excuse so we plan to make this more of a priority in the coming months.

Do you read the Bible together as a family?
