The story of your life is the story of the long and brutal assault on your heart by the one who knows what you could be and fears it. John Eldredge
Sometimes we forget that life is not all about us. It is so easy to get caught up in the daily chaos, distracted by all the “needs” pulling us in various directions and allowing endless activity to chew us up and spit us out exhausted.
The sad thing is the enemy is banking on that. Banking on the fact that we are our own worst enemy. That all he has to do is introduce a “crisis” and our faith will shake, and possible falter.
Many times you hear John 10:10 quoted: Jesus came so we could have an abundant life. Yes, that is true. But that is John 10:10b. What does John 10:10 really say?
The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
It is our responsibility on our journey with Christ to tune out the interference from life and take things to God. When a trial or circumstance invades your space, instead of wondering where God is in that moment, ask Him where He is. But, be prepared for the answer. “I am right here, my child“.
Being a child of God doesn’t mean we are granted protection from bad and difficult circumstances. Thank God for that! I have learned the most, about myself, about my purpose and about my God in the valleys of life; not the mountaintops.
That is not to say I have not enjoyed my mountaintop experiences with the Most High. I just understand that, here on this temporary earthly journey, I can expect to be interrupted by the enemy. The one that seeks to steal my joy, kill my spirit and destroy my faith.
I am thankful today that I get to know the end of the story. That one that seeks to steal my joy, kill my spirit and destroy my faith doesn’t win. It is quite simple, as summed up in Romans 8:31.
What then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
My friends, we are more than conquerors. If circumstances are knocking you down, if you are looking around wondering where God is in your life than the enemy is a happy guy. He has you right where he wants you, feeling alone and unimportant.
Thanks be to God I know the truth!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor ANYTHING ELSE IN ALL CREATION, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 8: 38-39
If that doesn’t make you thankful today I don’t know what will!
