Today’s Wifey Wednesday topic at To Love, Honor and Vacuum is a great one. We are to think about how our husband makes us feel- does he make you feel safe? loved? beautiful? Focus on the positive!
One of the main things that attracted me to my hubby (other than his jet black hair and chocolate colored eyes) was how safe he made me feel. From the day I met him, I was confident he would never physically hurt me, would do anything to protect those that he loved and that he was a man of integrity.
Growing up in a household where I rarely felt safe, this was a very attractive quality to me. Mike is a stand up guy- he doesn’t shirk responsibility, he works hard and he is the most loyal human being I know. There are many times in the thirteen years I have known him that all I needed was a hug from him for everything to feel ok.
My friends and I call him the “baby whisperer”. He has the ability to calm a crying baby (even one he has never met before) in an instant. And I think it is because he just oozes stability and a sense of calm. Honest to goodness, the man doesn’t raise his voice. I know he’s angry if his ears get red and his forehead crinkles.
Does this mean he is perfect? Far from it
But, he is perfect for me. The man God designed to balance out my impulsive, risk taking personality. When we are on track with God at the center of our marriage, we truly do bring out the best in each other.
How does your spouse make you feel?
