RIDEMAKERZ Review

I enjoy reviewing products and books on my blog. I think it is great to get another mom’s opinion about a new toy, game or product before sinking money into it. I signed up to review the RIDEMAKERZ customized car because it is something I could actually review with my kids. Well, the package with the info and gift card came last week and Matt (my eleven year old) has been on my heels ever since to get online and start building his car.

Allow me to explain: According to the RIDEMAKERZ site and fact sheet, the concept of RIDEMAKERZ combines the fun and excitement of cars with the hands-on experience of building and customizing a unique 21st century model car- your very own personalized RIDE. The concept taps into America’s love of cars and the massive car-customizing movement. Instead of just buying a toy car kids, or CUSTOMIZERS as the company refers to them, kids are encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to personalize and customize their vehicle.

So, last night Matt and I logged onto the site. If I had a new flip camera I would have been able to capture the excitement but let me provide some quotes to give you an idea of how much he enjoyed this process… “Oh, wow!”, “Sweet”, “smokin’”, “mom, this is awesome”. I could go on- no joke! Matt was totally into this process.

The first step is picking out your car. I really wanted him to pick a Mustang (since that is what his mama drives) but Matt was distracted by the Dodge Challenger Torque model ($25).

After choosing your car you continue with the customization process. The next step is to SONICIZE. During this phase you get to pick out a music cartridge, that provides sound effects for your car. Matt, being Matt, had to listen to all of them before going back and choosing the first one we listened to :-0

MOTORIZE is the next step where you get to choose to freewheel or add the radio control capability. Matthew chose the freewheel option “so I can have more control” (I’m just quoting the kid) In addition to all of this you also get to CUSTOMIZE and PERSONALIZE your RIDE. Matthew chose the following components to CUSTOMIZE his car.

The decals Matt chose are called Track Attack (I will be letting hubby help him put those on!!)
And these are the TREADZ (or tires) that Matt chose- he also chose a set of rims that have a pirate face on them that he is very excited about!


Now, I know not a thing about twin turbo engines and vented dual hood scoops but he sure got excited over picking such things out for his car!
He also ordered spoiler and some other things to CUSTOMIZE his ride. He also got to PERSONALIZE a title and chose his license plate wording- HOTRODZ (isn’t he a smart kid?)
